Once an outpost for pirates and the pearl trade, the oil-rich United Arab Emirates is working fervently to reinvent itself on a global scale. Comprised of seven family-run mini-states, and strategically centered between the traditional powers of the West and the rising stars of the East, the Emirates is a fast-growing international trading hub. Drawing more tourists than India or Egypt, investors, and about 80 percent of Fortune 500 companies to its tax-free desert landscape, the Emirates are gaining a reputation as an oasis of economic success amidst a region scathed by conflict and political instability. Though some of the emirates have enough oil to sustain their economies in the near-term, Ras al-Khaimah, the northern-most emirate, is not so blessed. So, inspired by its flourishing sister-state Dubai, Ras-al-Khaimah has come up with a plan to diversify its investments and build itself into global significance by commissioning world-renowned architects to invent a city on the sand dunes.

Make your way along the top of the sand castle. You will be attacked by archers who appear then disappear after firing their weapons. Note that the arrows shot by these archers are more powerful than most. They will leave you with swordsmen. Take out the baddies and continue to the right. Be careful not to get into too much fighting behind the pillars obstructing the view. Stay to the right or left or them.

The first episode of Gelato Beach is special, because you can get 20 out of 30 Blue Coins in this episode alone, which is nice if you want to explore the area a little bit. The secret stage is not far away: Just spray the sprout in the middle of the beach and a sandcastle will pop up on the peninsula. Run toward the giant arrow and get ready for another Old-School Stage.
The Sandy Cubes that make up this level begin to disintegrate as soon as you step on them (they do reappear later). Simply dash through the first part until you get to the castle. Switch to a top-down view, and then head to one of the safe points in the corner. Pause a moment, then jump up to the solid red block on the third level.

The Cannon Beach Sandcastle Contest began in 1964 when a tsunami washed out the Elk Creek Bridge, and residents were relatively isolated until a new bridge could be built. That spring, local families gathered for a Sandcastle Contest to entertain their children and attract visitors.
